Kaleigh O'Merry

Kaleigh O’Merry is the Administrative Officer for the T. Denny Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion (TDSIEC). As Administrative Officer, Kaleigh plans, develops and implements operations for the newly-established institute. She has designed and implemented operational structures for: grant management, knowledge management, and administration. Her passion for experience design is incorporated into her day-to-day projects, with human connectivity being at the core.

Prior to TDSIEC, Kaleigh served in a similar capacity at the UC San Diego’s (UCSD) Halicioglu Data Science Institute (HDSI), which launched in 2018. At HDSI, she was part of the development and implementation phase on a full range of strategic initiatives and was notably recognized by leadership for cultivating the growing HDSI community. 

As a San Diego native, Kaleigh is invested in giving back to her community. She has volunteered with the Friends of Scott Foundation - Friends to Kids with Cancer, a local non-profit, since 2009. With Friends of Scott, Kaleigh has served as Auction Chair for Annual Fundraising events and established the Annual Day at the Park outing, a yearly event that takes adolescent cancer patients and their families to a Padres baseball game. Additionally, Kaleigh has volunteered with the local Alzheimer’s Association through event support and holding book clubs. She received her B.A. in Spanish, with an emphasis in Spanish Literature, and is a Project Management Professional (PMP).
