Journal Club

The T. Denny Sanford Institute (TDSI) Empathy and Compassion Journal Club provides an interactive, thoughtful, and engaging context to learn and discuss cutting-edge research in the areas of empathy and compassion. We focus on seminal studies concerning the cultivation of empathy and compassion, associated clinical outcomes, and corresponding psychological and biological mechanisms. Throughout, we will critique the design of studies, evaluate findings and validity of conclusions, identify and analyze existing or in development tools to measure empathy and compassion, and note the strengths and limitations associated with empathy and compassion-based mind-body interventions. Occasionally, we will invite expert speakers to facilitate our discussion. The TDSI Empathy and Compassion Journal Club welcomes interested faculty, trainees, and colleagues to connect, remain intellectually stimulated, and stay current with the literature in this incredibly important field.

We meet on the third Tuesday of every month at 11:00 AM PST via Zoom (https://ucsd.zoom.us/j/93474484572). The details of each meeting and articles will be posted here.
