    Ami Doshi, MD

    Dr. Ami Doshi is a compassion-driven leader, physician and educator who is passionate about empowering others to live their best lives personally and professionally. She spreads the power of wellness-centered leadership, compassionate communication and meaning-making by infusing this into her work at the bedside, with learners and as Vice Chair of Faculty Development and Wellness for UC San Diego’s Department of Pediatrics She directs the Wellness Leader Academy of the T. Denny Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion, integrating her leadership and faculty development expertise to advance wellness. She learns a great deal about resilience, perspective, and compassion from her pediatric palliative care patients and families. Her impact has been recognized through awards such as the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Impact Award, Doris A Howell Award for Advancing Palliative Care and UC San Diego Health Sciences Excellence in Faculty Mentoring award. Her favorite, and hardest, job is mother of twin girls.

    Nikki Ashtiani

    Nikki Ashtiani is the Wellness Leader Academy Program Coordinator. She is also involved in bringing various well-being and mental health programs to life at UC San Diego, including the Healer Education Assessment and Referral (HEAR) Program, as well as other research initiatives rooted in empathy, compassion, and well-being at the University. She cares deeply about promoting team-member and healthcare worker well-being, and implementing preventative efforts to minimize burnout. She has an interest in adding elements of mindfulness, empathy, and compassion into her workflow wherever she can. Outside of UC San Diego, she enjoys hiking, cooking, crafting with friends, and writing poetry.
