UC San Diego is currently recruiting for the Sanford Institute Director. The successful candidate should be an inspirational scientific leader with a deep research background and proven administrative experience to work closely with faculty, staff, and administrators within the Sanford Institute and beyond, fostering excellence in research and discovery, addressing physician burnout, informing the medical curriculum on empathy and compassion, and community outreach and service. The Director will work closely with a broad community of stakeholders to envision and achieve Sanford Institute’s goals that align with UC San Diego Health Sciences’ future plans and tripartite mission.
The Sanford Institute is pleased to announce a call for nominations for Endowed Professorships in research excellence. The successful candidate(s) will have demonstrated an interest in basic and/or applied research into the neurobiology of empathy, compassion, or related disciplines. Their work in humans and/or model systems will be supported by successful applications for extramural funding, and will have been published in high-impact journals. Candidates must be a full-time UC San Diego faculty member.
The Sanford Institute is pleased to announce a call for nominations for an endowed professorship in medical education. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in medical education and a track record of research accomplishments that support the education of medical students and health care professionals. Ideally, the candidate will have engaged in research that addresses a role for empathy, compassion, or related disciplines in medical education. Candidate must be a full-time UC San Diego faculty member.
